My name is Irenka, I'm of Polish origin living and working in Bremen, North Germany.
I apologize for having waited till now - two days before leaving for Lisbon- to introduce myself.

I started drawing four years ago and from the beginning I preferred drawing people.  Below

a few samples of my drawings.  I'm looking forward to meeting you all in Lisbon and hope

to learn from you a lot.

    See you on Thursday!

hi my name is Martine Kervagoret (martinesan in flickr). I live in Paris (France), I like  drawing in the Louvre every week with my friends but the urban sketch is new for me only for one year, but now it is something necessary in my life. I am so happy to go to Lisbon to meet you all and to share with you the same passion.

little problem to see my drawings can you help me?

Hi everybody, my name is Antje.

I'm from Germany but have lived in Dublin, Ireland for the past 13 years, from where I will also be leaving for the Lisbon Symposium. Below are two of my drawings from Dublin: one is close to where I live and the second is from this year's St. Patrick's Day Parade (may need a bit of zooming-in). I am looking forward to meeting everybody and to a bit of heat - it's a bit autumn-ish here at the moment. Thanks to Pedro for the tea-post, I do like a nice cup of tea :)

    Hi hello bonjour,

My name is David but you can call me emdé, i'm 37 and I live in Grenoble (Fance) where I work as a librarian.

I've never study drawing but I remember I like to draw since childhood.

Since 6 years now, I draw a lot (well, like everybody here :D). I think it's because I've discovered that it makes me feel good (like a sort of meditation).

I used to draw a lot during travels but now I always have my sketchbook and my pens with me, and I try to sketch everywhere, everyday.

I mostly like to draw cities, streets, houses, buildings but more and more, I try to draw people (really hard for me) and I try to sketch during concerts, events, at the market...

    Here some recent sketchs :

I'm really happy to take part of this great event in Lisbon, with all of you :)
I've got a lot to learn from you all and I hope I'm sure we will share good times

As you can see, my english is not so good but I hope I'll be able to talk with you all...

Well, see you in Lisbon !

    (ha, and here I am : )

My name is Linda ....and I'm looking forward to seeing both familiar and new faces in Lisbon soon! I'm a Landscape Designer and also teach at Portland Community college. My husband and I tend a small vineyard and a garden, and enjoy cycling, hiking and photography. I tell my students to draw, draw , draw....but often don't find the time myself, except when I'm traveling on vacation. I enjoy sketching in pen and ink, pencil and watercolor, and often do perspective sketches to help clients visualize the designs that I do for them. I know I'll be inspired by the many talented sketchers coming to Lisbon....just as I was at the first symposium here in Portland.

    See you soon!

Check-in will start at 8 a.m. at the Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (FBAUL) (see location on Google Map). Volunteers will be available to direct you to the desk where you should check-in and pick your Symposium bag.

We are setting up three registration desks in the large patio of the school to be able to check-in everyone within an hour, but we'll still have to move quickly! We appreciate everyone's cooperation so the process goes as smoothly as possible.

At 9 a.m. we'll gather at the school's auditorium for the official opening of the event. After that, participants will go to different meeting spots inside the school where they will meet their instructors for the first round of field sketching workshops. You'll find the locations of these meeting points in the Symposium brochure that you'll receive when you check in.

Safe travels to all those coming from afar and see you on Thursday!

    * * *

A little late, but here I am introducing myself. My name is Cynthia, I am Mexican but live Geneva, Switzerland. I love drawing and sketching even if I don't have any formal training. I am a USK member and this is both my first time in Lisbon and in a sketching symposium, I am so thrilled to participate and to meet fellow sketchers from around the world!!

My husband is coming with me, we're arriving two days earlier to Lisbon to get familiarized with the city.

I like sketching with watercolors, watercolor pencils and several kinds of liners.

    Hello from Stamford, Connecticut, USA.

Wow -- months of anticipation, and now the symposium is almost upon us! I'm excited to meet so many sketchers whose work I've seen only online.

It will be my second time visiting Lisbon, but my first time sketching it. My husband is coming with me; while I'm drawing, he'll rent a bicycle and explore the city and coastline. We're flying out there a day early and will probably wander around some of the picturesque areas just west of the capital (Sintra, Cascais, etc.) before the symposium.

My day job has taken me away from home quite a bit over the last month, but I've tried to slot in some time for sketching and painting during my travels. It will be nice to have 3 days during which the only pressing question will be, "What should I draw next?"

I mostly work in watercolor, but I'm thinking about challenging myself to break out of my routines and use different combinations of media & paper during the various workshops. I'm sure I'll be inspired by the instructors' and participants' unique styles and favorite supplies.

Here's a "first draft" of what I'll bring along; I'll also be packing a hat, folding stool, water bottle and camera.

Safe travels, and see you all in Lisbon!
