I'm finally home, trying to catch up after a marathon journey - in the middle of which was the incredible, wonderful Symposium. Three days jam-packed with beautiful, warm, excited sketchers, sharing of ideas and experiences, sketching of course, at every opportunity - though as with many of the other instructors, it wasn't the priority during our teaching workshops, so didn't get as much done as the participants - in the gorgeous, richly decorated and historical setting of Lisbon, a city I am so happy to have been introduced to.
But my first morning was 'off-duty', joining Manuel San Payo's Waterscapes workshop. He led us through the characterful streets, greeting friends and his 'honeybun' who were leaning out of doorways and windows, waving as we traipsed past to the Miradoura de Santa Catarina, where we were encouraged to relax and enjoy sketching the harbour, bridge and surroundings of the Tagus river.
Isabel, my workshop partner and fellow African correspondent, helped me to order the most delicious coffee and some breakfast at the café, my timid and confused 'merci' met with a roar of "Obrigada! Obrigada!" from the smiling waiter (I knew that, really!). A lovely beginning to the intense experiences still to come.

Sorry to be so dense, I only caught the part where sketches should be 20 cm on the widest side, 300 dpi and in jpg format, but I don't know where to email or upload them, could someone please confirm?

    Thank you! It was great!

I just returned from Lisbon a couple of days ago and I really miss the weather. The symposium was amazing, thank you to everyone who organised it! I picked up a lot of tips and bits of advise that I am now trying to keep together in my head every time I draw. Lisbon is a beautiful city, I met so many nice people, got to see a lot but still wanted to see so much more - so I think I'll be headed back once finances allow it. Here is a quick drawing from Sintra: the Fonte Mourisca. Even though it's not the main attraction, I think, it was my favourite thing to see there.

On the walk up to 'Castelo dos Mouros' I also spotted this on a wall:

I'm no calligraphy expert but that looks a lot like 'USk' to me...

It is only a week since the end of the Symposium, but I miss its incredible energies and all that wonderful sketchers that I finally met in person, but seems like I knew them for a long time!
All the workshops that I took was fabulous. I'm sharing here sketches from "Urban Portraits".
People was for me always the subject I love to draw most. So, it was real pleasure for me taking "Urban Portraits" with Isabel Fiadeiro and Cathy Gatland.
Thank you, dear ladies, it was real fun! And I've tried out some new techniques ;-)

    Auction Piece

Thank you all for such a wonderful experience in Lisbon. I am so happy to have made so many new friends and meet old friends in person.

I just have a little request concerning my auction piece as shown in the picture. I am not sure the sketch ultimately went to which bidder. Therefore I would be really grateful if you could make a scanned copy for my reference. Many thanks!

    hey guys.

It was wonderful to meet you all, the symposium was really intense. with all its draws and wonderarounds my sketchbook ended up full of colours, lines, contrasts and mottled ink.

Hope to keep in touch and to peek into your sketches even if from a distance.
    Mine ended up like that:

Again, I’m really pleased I got the chance to participate in this meeting. Congrats for the organizers, volunteers and instructors: everything was extremely organized and still in such an easygoing mood.

Big applause: clap clap clap clap!
